So I think I've finally got a handle on this ultralith stuff. I was smurfing the web and found a forum where someone posted that the diameter of the reactor that the ultralith in was an important thing for flow. Because the tube of the phosban reactor is narrower, flow needs to be reduced because there is less surface area. Anyway, I don't really get it (although sometimes it makes sense) but I reduced the flow and my water is crystal clear almost to the point where it looks like it did when I used ozone. I also reduced the UltraMinS and UltraBak to 0.5ml each (less than half the usual dose) to get things back on track and it seems to be working. Some stuff is coloring up nicely, other things well not so much. Some are just resistant to change I guess.

Anyway I'm glad I finally have that figured out, or at least I think I have it figured out. I'm down to the last few ml of Ultrabio so I had to order some more which sucks cuz its so expensive and here again, an investment in something that I'm not so sure of. Oh well, it has until the end of September and if I'm not seeing anything positive by then, I've given it 6 months and can't say I didn't try.

I'm also at the point where I have to replace 25-50% of the ultralith rocks. I'm not really looking forward to this after the big brownout last time. This time I'm following the instructions in the manual whereby I soak the rocks in RO water for a week and change it out every day or so. I sure hope this works because if it doesn't I doubt very much that I will even be attempting the 6 month run, I'll just sell what I have left or give it to someone that has the system running successfully. I haven't decided on whether I'll change out 25% or 50%. I'm soaking an in between amount so I guess I'll just decide when the time comes.
