Started using Tailored Aquatics Potassium as well as dosing Iron, Strontium and Iodine. Potassium seems to be talked about quite a bit in the forums so I got a zeovit test kit (which is a pain in the arse to read) and it seems that my tank is somewhere between 250 and 300 mg/L which is pretty low seeing as how natural seawater is 390 or so. Anyway, the potassium I'm dosing with raises it very slowly so it will be awhile before I'm up to NSW levels. I think I'll probably test every week or so and see how it goes.
I decided to dose the Iron as well, apparently its supposed to bring out the greens. I don't have a test kit for this however so I think I'm gonna have to find one pronto. As far as I can tell Seachem is the only one out there. Lord knows where I'm gonna find that as this is a one horse town (hagen) and none of the stores online seem to carry it.
I did test my strontium levels a couple of years ago when I had access to a test kit. They were inline with what NSW was so I didn't bother to dose. At this point I'm doing the beginner/no test kit dosage so I doubt I'll be doing any harm.
And last but not least, iodine. Yeah I'm pretty much fumbling around in the dark on this one as well. I don't have any shrimp or anything that I could possibly be wreaking havoc with so its ok. Again I'm just doing the beginner dose until I can get my hands on some test kits.
Anyway, just wanted to post this for archival purposes :)
