Bubbly SPS Event

Bit of a hiccup with the tank.  Last thursday I arrived home to a goodly portion of my green S. caliendrum birdsnest bleached white and parts had a beige slime to them. I took it out of the tank, fragged off the affected parts, cut a couple frags off of the good side and placed them on my frag racks at opposite ends of the tank.  I put the colony back in the tank, hoping that I could save it. However the next morning it looked like this:

Gross!  Only the few branches on the right remained intact but I could see that the bases and undersides of them were starting to go so I ended up having to toss the whole colony.  The colonies directly under the affected coral weren't happy campers either:

As well, my irridescent pink birdsnest, which was my "indicator coral" in my 90 gallon and my pink P. damnicornis were both looking stressed with their polyps tucked in.  The pink birdsnest was always my indicator that something was up in my 90 gallon and would always resurrect itself after running carbon or doing a waterchange, it was the oddest thing until one day something really did it in and I lost about 90% of it to STN. Thankfully I didn't have the heart to toss it and after it stopped receeding it came back and is now back to its former glory.

After removing the affected colony I changed out the carbon and started making water for a 20% waterchange. By a few hours later, the other colonies returned to normal and by the next day it was business as usual in the tank.  Weird!
