So I just discovered today while updating the tank picture, that blogger doesn't allow you to double click on the photo to go to the larger sized version. What a pain in the butt. Anyways, if you want to see a larger photo go here. Anyway, I thought I'd update the photo because I'm still not sure what I'm doing about those caps and if I haul them out and chuck them I'd like a record of what the tank looked like before.

So I took some pics of the damage that the nudis have been doing to the caps. They've been doing it for quite awhile I would imagine, they look like crap and the yellow one has been on the downturn for at least 6 months I'd say. The tan and purple caps haven't been quite as long but they're looking pretty bad as well. Its kind of sad that I have to get rid of them/break them off of their moorings as the purple one is really starting to recover after that whole ultralith debacle (replacing the stones led to brown corals, still not really sure why). In that photo you can see it starting to close up on the damaged parts, here is a pic of it starting to heal up the damaged bits (please ignore the photo quality :P). I thought I had taken more photos of the damage but I can't seem to find them so I guess I didn't.

Anyway, looking at the photos it almost appears that, in the case of the purple cap, its actually growing faster than the montis can eat it. The yellow cap, well not so much. I'd say there is only about 40% of the coral still intact, the rest has gone to crap. The tan cap, well its pretty fugly. It used to have a purple rim but ever since I went off ozone its just basic boring beigey brown. I think I'll probably just get rid of that one altogether. The purple one is a good hideout for my lined blenny though, and I have another chunk of it over on the other side of the tank that I'll treat and reattach. I may just move the larger purple cap down lower as the spot its in is some prime real estate for acros ;)
