Meshwheel revisited. Ok so I finally got the enkamat, turns out it was the wrong stuff. No surprise on my luck there, however, I had a go at it anyways. It actually does work. I probably would have gotten better results with the proper enkamat but the bubbles seem finer and "milkier" looking than previous. I also got about double the weeks worth of skimmate that I normally get. It isn't any thicker or smellier though :P One side effect is that my pump surges. I guess the stuff isn't cut quite properly and the skimmer shuts down periodically for about 4-5 sec before starting up, going for about 30-1min and then stopping again. I suppose I'll have to look into that. Ok I just looked, there was a piece of what looked like grocery bag plastic amongst the mesh. How these things get into my tank I'll never know. A couple months ago it was wasps. Wasps! In the winter? WTF?
Got a few new frags (surprise surprise) but no pics as I don't have my camera handy. Its around here somewhere so I'll try to get some posted. I'm still waiting on new bulbs but managed to find some used ones for sale so I can get those installed next weekend. I'm so tired of the yellow. I just don't know how I withstood it for three whole years. What was I thinking? :P
Also I finally got a new drive unit for my second Tunze 6060. I just felt that the flow in my tank was getting too circular what with the wavebox and 6060 offset at opposite ends. I now have both 6060's on the right side, with the lower one pointing down at the bottom of the tank (hopefully clearing out the muck from under the rocks) and the other pointing across at the front pane. flow should be a bit more "random" now :P
