Ok so I fragged the cap. The brown jelly crap came back on a section and quite frankly I was tired of doing the dips. As well, a goodly portion of the coral was dead anyways so I pared it down to size. I now have 3 shelves hanging from the rock. It actually looks pretty cool if not for the ridiculous amount of epoxy it took to get the darned things on there. Sorry no pics, I'll have to get to that soon.
Newness.... hmm, well nothing really new. The cyano is still there along with about 7 other species of algaes. I'm still not sure what is up with that. Nothing has died to my knowledge but an incredible algae bloom seems to be happening in both my fuge and tank. I'm still running the phosban, for all the good it does...
Actually since I moved the cap the blastomussa, which was previously underneath, is more exposed to light and is loving it. I was never really sure how much light they liked but apparently its more than I was giving it. It just looks a little more "full" than it did previously, I'm still feeding it. So I decided to move the red donut out into the light as well. It seems to be faring better with more light than with less. Its still exhibiting that "deflated" look though which I am not impressed with. I feed it as well but it has never swelled up like other donuts I've seen. Its just barely inflated on the skeleton. :(
