The extra fish made an appearance the other night. Of course I was right in there with the camera. He's been with me for 6 weeks now and during the tank switchover was the first I'd seen of him. Lucky for me he likes to hang out in the back corner which is perfect for pictures ;) He's a Striped Head Dwarf Goby (although aren't all gobies sort of dwarf?). Anyhoo, neat fish as they swim upside down. A bit wacky until you clue in. No doubt I'll never see him again.
So two things I have noticed since the tank switch over. I am missing my brown with green centered zoos and my prized ricordea (cry). Last night while taking pictures of the stripe head goby, I noticed my urchin chugging along the back of the tank, green zoos attached. I couldn't reach him but at least I know where to find them now ;). Unforunately no ricordea. As soon as I haul the zoos off him, I'll tell him to fetch the ricordia which has, no doubt, ended up under or between the rocks somehow.
So I was at the fish store yesterday and they just happened to get some new stuff in and of course I have NO willpower and ended up coming home with two new ricordia. One was a gorgeous pink color in the store and appears that same way in my tank, the second was a really delicate blue and green color and doesn't have the same coloring in my tank. Not surprising though, nothing retains its blue under Iwasakis, I guess the pee yellow cancels it out into green. Anyway, I still think it looks fantastic! I wish I could figure out what makes them grow faster so I could trade though.
Other than that the tank is doing very well. I love the fact that I can take a picture wherever I want and not have to worry about all those scratches!! I still have to get a backing for the tank as well. Its not so hot having a whitish background and being able to see the powercords and the nice post :p The tank is pretty yellowy with just the iwasakis on there, I ended up sending the VHO ballast in to Ice Cap to get fixed and its on its way back. Hopefully the yellow will be remedied very soon :) edit: hmm I didn't mention the VHO ballast purchase. In short, I got it used with a dimmer. The ballast kept blowing fuses so I sent it in to Ice Cap. Bummer to make such a cool purchase only to have it crap out. It should be back next week and then I'll be ready to roll!
