Alrighty, its been awhile since I posted. Really I do try to post more often but things I've just gotten busy lately and I've hardly even looked at the tank in the past week. Finally my schedule is back to normal which doesn't necessarily mean that I'll be posting more but whatever. I'm not sure if there is even a point here. :P

So whats new? Well lets see here. I got a chiller at the beginning of the month. A Pacific Coast Imports CL-650. I love it! I got it used and saved myself some money (which I promptly spent on other reef stuff :P). It keeps the temperature at a much more reasonable level and keeps me from worrying about the tank (which I still do from time to time).

Hmm what else? I went to a meeting of fish geeks and got many more corals than I bargained for. You know, go for a couple come home with 15. What can you do? I couldn't possibly say no :P All are SPS frags. Alot of them were brown as a friend of mine was keeping them under NO lighting and decided to go the LPS route so they're pretty brown. I can't wait for them to color up. A couple I definitely know what they are, others I have no idea. Some are just nondescript, you know brown, nothing much interesting about them but theres this one that has the most fantastic polyps on them. They sort of look like little brown fuzzy flowers all over the coral. Plus the tissue is starting to get this iridescent green color which I hope gets more vivid with time.

Anyway, on to the pics. I haven't mounted any of these guys, mostly because I am running out of real estate and have no idea where I'm gonna put the damned things. I should have done a 3 sided tank with the front and back visible, then I'd have a whole lot more places to put frags but alas, I'm stuck with what I have. No doubt, corals will be growing together in about 6 months and I'll be in for some heavy pruning.

Yes. Pics.

Beautiful blue milli
Orange Ricordea
Yellow acro (maybe slimer?)
Acropora tenuis colony (score!)
Misc. Acropora #1 (named Green Twister by its owner)
Misc Acro #2
Misc. Acro #3
Misc. Acro #4
Spectacular Pink Zoos
Other pinky zoos

See what I mean?? I meant to buy only 4 of those corals, well thats not all of them, some I just couldn't get decent pics of. Its a sickness I tells ya!!

Also in taking those pictures I have realized something: I should really stop looking so closely at the tank. The big rock on the very right hand side is growing copious amounts of a really dark green fuzzy algae (tomorrows project no doubt). As well my tank is disgustingly scratched. Not that I haven't lamented about this before but I really think its high time I did something about it.

Ooh another thing I did since the last time I blogged (I guess I wasn't quite as busy as I thought). I set up a reverse lit refugium. It has some sand, a few pieces of rock and some chaetomorpha in it, with 2 15W screw in compact fluorescents over it. And of course it didn't take me long to put fish in it :P They had these sweet little high fin gobies at the LFS (well not so local LFS) that I couldn't resist (twist my rubber arm). They spend most of their day looking like this. They're pretty voracious eaters when food is offered though, if they can overcome their fear of being exposed. They're pretty quick little fish.

It's really not much of a surprise that you chose to put gobies in the refrigerator, is it?

I mean, you do seem to have a thing for gobies.

Why yes, I suppose you're right. I'm already planning on getting some shrimp for it too maybe. Just little ones though. :P
