I think this must be some kind of record for keeping up with this thing :)
So I arrived home this weekend to find the fuse had blown on my chiller. Not sure what the deal was with that. But of course its some sort of special fuse that I didn't have spares of so I had to watch my tank hit 83.5F all weekend before I could go get some more fuses today from the store that has fantastic hours (8-5 monday to friday). Now I have 4 spare fuses! :)
I also arrived home on Friday to find that my new crocea clam had tipped over and had a huge hole in the bottom where its byssal gland "used to be" wtf is up with that? I don't think I have any predators that would munch on it. I righted it and had a little freak out for awhile as it was gaping like crazy and the huge hole in the bottom allowed me to see the tank glass, but was reassured by the people in the clams direct forum that it would be okay. The clam is looking much better and while I can still see through the clam to the tank bottom, the space is getting smaller and smaller and the clam is gaping much less and almost looks normal. Darned clams!!!
Well I finally took the plunge and am trying ultralith by faunamarin. I have been at OA many times over the last few months and their display tank is currently using the Ultralith system and looks simply amazing so how could I resist. The colors really pop in that tank. So right now I'm just getting the system started and am using the vials of bio and about half the dosage of ultraminS and ultrabak. I've been reading on RC that some people are having algae issues with the full dosage of minS and bak so I figured why tempt fate? I have such a green thumb anyways. I did take a few photos (well one of every coral). But I'll post the comparison photos as I notice any color changes. Its too labor intensive to post them all here. Maybe I'll set up another webpage or something.
Ahh the tank is back to a cool 79F. Makes me (and the tank) much happier :)
