My wavebox hasn't arrived yet so I've had to put a hagen 802 in the tank for extra circulation. Its funny how I used to be impressed with those powerheads, they threw alot more water than a MJ1200 ya know! Now they look like they're just wheezing away. Still better than nothing I suppose. Hopefully the wavebox will be in soon. I can hardly contain my excitement.
So I don't know if I mentioned that I started up my ozonizer again. Ah yes I see I did. Anyway, an update. I can't believe how much more efficient the air dryer makes the unit, and how quickly I have to recharge the beads. I've been recharging them weekly, although if I was at home more I would probably be doing it every 4-5 days by the looks of it. I don't really notice a difference in algae growth quite yet (on the rocks and stuff) although the front glass doesn't need to be cleaned as often which is nice. However, the water is incredibly clear and the corals are coloring up nicely. The tank is really looking quite good these days.
I had a bit of a halimeda bloom, not quite sure why but there was a ton of it in there. I yarded it all out even though it looked kind of nice, as it was probably using up a ton of calcium which needs to go to my corals.
Speaking of calcium, I don't think I've ever seen my calcium reactor suck up the calcium quite so fast before. You can practically see the aragonite level lower as you watch it. Its just amazing. I've had the reactor for probably 3-4 years now and usually the media lasts for a good 18 months before I feel that it should be changed (its usually all sludgy near the bottom). This time its all going to be gone and I'm going to HAVE to replace it. Pretty exciting :P
