Things are coloring up nicely in the tank. I suppose I posted only a week ago but I'm bored so I'll post again

I treated the tank for red bugs again this past weekend. Funny as I was patiently waiting for the polyps to come out on this one however my waiting was in vain as it was swamped with bugs. There were a few others that were rather buggy as well but for the most part polyps were out and it was business as usual. I guess some corals are just more affected than others by the bugs. Anyway, the treatment went well and we'll see how much more polyp extension I get out of the ones that didn't look as healthy (polyp wise).

Upon my arrival home last weekend I noticed that one of my clams was missing. After a lengthy search (sheesh the tank isn't that big) I found it at the back of the tank, shell empty but for the adductor muscle which was still keeping the two halves together. Pretty odd if you ask me. You'd think whatever had snacked on it would have gotten the job done. Sort of makes me wonder if it was natural or predator related. Over the last few months it developed that whitish band at the edge of the mantle whereas when I bought it it looked like this then the band disappeared altogether and the mantle was a dark purplish red color. Very weird changes as my gold maxima has remained the same throughout this time.

Of course I managed to time the departure of one clam with the arrival of another. Not purposefully of course and I was rather apprehensive about putting another clam in if it was going to be snacked upon by something. Not really much of a choice though. I decided to try another crocea. We'll see how it goes as I didn't have much luck with the last one (gaping issues).

And last but not least A NEW FISH!!!!! Wheee! Ok seriously, this really is the last royal gramma I am going to attempt. I've had them before for about a year and then for some reason there is some event where their gills flare and they go into rigor. I'm not sure if its a heart attack or what. Sometimes its while I'm working on the tank, other times theres one just passed out in the corner. The damnedest thing but they're such gorgeous fish and I'm hoping this one will curb my need for a powder blue tang (yeah riiighttt :P)
