So I finally stopped procrastinating and installed my Lumenarc mini A3's. What a fun time that was. I'm not exactly the most adept at DIY (which I'm sure you've already read about). And I'm not quite sure what I was thinking when I measured to see if they'd fit. Of course they do fit, but to the detriment of several other pieces of equipment in the tank. Namely the seaswirl which is currently getting cooked as its sitting almost directly under the bulb which is about 2.5" away. The other is my actinic VHOs which are now crowded out by the reflectors which angle over them and not much actinic light is getting to the tank. So my previously well loved Ushios are now a bit too yellowy for my taste. Good thing I'm made of money, I'll just buy some 15K bulbs and a wavysea next! Woohoo!

More funness: I bought some coralvue reeflux bulbs awhile ago, I really liked them on a friends tank and they were getting great reviews on RC. Of course after I got the bulbs it came out that they don't work on M58 ballasts sometimes. Some people have success, some don't. Guess which one I am? Bingo. It took over 2 hours for the first bulb to fire and the second one didn't go at all, even after 4 hours when I got tired of waiting. Now they're camping over at a friends house, hopefully he can get them to fire. Seems as soon as they fire, they'll fire every time. I'm hoping it will work. If not I guess I'll be getting those 15k bulbs sooner than I thought ;)
